Math club is now open to all students on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:15- 4:00.  Ms. Klose, Mrs. Doolan, as well as peer helpers are there to help you with your homework, prepare for quizzes, to review concepts, and to learn new ones. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to have ‘sum’ fun while improving your math skills!  Join us in rooms 201 and 203.  See you there!!!

MATH PARENTS

When your child is working with mathematics, the following questions can provide you with some starting points to encourage communication in mathematics.  By explaining what something is, how it works and the steps they have followed to solve a problem, children gain a better understanding of mathematics they are learning.

Try asking some of the questions below the next time your child is working with mathematics.

  • What made you think of that?
  • Could you help me understand this part?
  • Does your answer seem reasonable to you?  Why or why not?
  • Tell me what you think helped you decide how to get your answer.
  • Where would you use this mathematics in daily life?
  • Can you show your thinking with diagrams or model?
  • How did you get your answer?
  • What do you think will happen next?
  • How can you check to see for yourself?
  • What do you think would happen if……?
